Dear Jana,

You are so right!
You know I am a tough guy and not a typical "emotional" Brazilian, but I always choke up when I hear debates like this and I think exactly like you! How long more are we going to need this kind of debate! Enough already!

Alex,

The pressure is growing, Washington state already approved Gay Marriage on the House and Senate and the Governor already said she will sign it into law.
California Supreme court judged the infamous proposion 8 unconstitutional, now is off to the Supreme Court.
The pressure is growing my dear friend. Soon Gil and I won't be second class citizens anymore.

Dear Jennifer,

I am glad I can share! :)
Hey, I have been curious to hear more about your chickens, you never talked about them anymore!!
It was so much fun hearing details about them!
:)

Well, Ray, I guess I'm due for a chicken post! I still love them and enjoy their eggs. :-)

Jennifer,

I laughed out loud reading about your chickens, we are city people and love to hear about that, I mean, who knew chickens go out playing and roaming around during the day and come back home to sleep at night :)
There is a house about 20 minutes driving south of us who has chickens and they go out to work in the city during the day and leave a large basked filled with fresh eggs and a can with change money just ouside their garage. Yes, the honor system is alive and well in Rhode Island. We drive over there, bring our own egg carton, fill it with eggs, 2 dollars a dozen and make our own change, leaving the money in the money can. :)
We dream of having a little house in the country and chickens someday. :)

I'm not a party gal. i vote on people and who they are, with that said most republicans AND democrats I don't usually support. I think the only campaign I have ever given money to was Russ feingold.

Anyways, really moving. While we have this social process of getting rights, it seems so unfair who gets stuck fighting on the streets, walking door to door, tabling and educating. I just wish for once I would see George Bush getting dirty for the fight of his life. The guy is a war criminal and seems to be pretty scott free.

Nina,

I was an independant voter as well, but that was before Bush, the THUG!!
The Democrats are far from perfect or ideal but are the best weapon we have to stop the insanity in our country right now.
Long story short, after Bush destroyed our economy, and seriouly jepardized our civil rights situation, we lost the luxury of voting with the person.
Republicans need to be defeated and stay as far away from power as possible for as long as possible.
Someone needs to repair the damage. :)
Obama is working in the right direction if you ask me.

well I can't name one republican I would vote for. I think it's terrible how our new democracy works in the US and how corrupt politicians are there.

It's sad how things are but, I am really happy that people all over the world seem to be stepping up. I was impressed with all the political action in Brazil. Here is tough because of income and Brasilia being so far off from the economic points of Brazil.

I'm looking forward to 2012, with the protests in Greece it looks like this year will be bigger. But again poverty is super high and we really don't have the rights we should at 2012.

It's sad to think that we used to be more "free".

Nina,

I am an eternal optimist, and was surprised in a very good way when Mr.Obama was elected.
There is hope! ;)

I think hope better in Portuguese. I think it captures the endless need to hope. I just don't see it in English the way it is in Portuguese.
